Track Highlight: Baraka Palmer – ‘Beautiful Dawn’

This track highlight belongs to Brazil’s own, Baraka Palmer. According to Jacob Cury, the track was initially inspired by the Brazilian rhythm “Carimbó”, but, when recorded with the band, it evolved into a heavier and more metallic sound. The band is composed of Anna Butler (Ex-MTV), non-performing member; Jacob Cury, vocals; Antonio Frugiuele, guitars; Marcô Loschiavo (Gram), guitars; Johnny Zanei, bass.

This track gives me heavy 90s punk-esque / grungy vibes but a more upbeat with a pop punk feel. I like the post-chorus bridge where the instrumentals seem to take it up a notch. Its a short, yet simple song, I like the chord progressions and consistent temp throughout the track. While, the track works very well, I think if there was a little more length in structure with the individual parts (verse / chorus / etc.) it would make the track that much better but there is nothing wrong with a quick, punchy track. It holds my attention the entire time and I could keep my energy in line with the track energy which is always a good thing.

‘Beautiful Dawn’ was performed by: Jacob Cury, vocals; Antonio Frugiuele, guitars; Marcô Loschiavo (Gram); Martin Mendonça (Pitty), bass; Duda Machado (exPitty), drums. It was recorded at the Madera Studio in the Baixo Augusta region of São Paulo. It was written by Antonio Frugiuele and Jacob Cury.
