Track Highlight: Dolla Bill – ‘LOST AMERICAN’

Will Francis “Dolla Bill” is a music artist from Smithfield, NC USA. He does original rock, singer/songwriter, hip hop/rap and reggae music. Currently, he is releasing singles, building a catalog and rehearsing a live set that includes original and some cover material.

This new track is a remake and different than the original version. It fuses indie rock with some singer/songwriter. It has a pretty strong hook and chorus. This song brings a chill, but rocked up island beach vibe and a commentary on being American. The feeling of being lost and in search of an identity seems like it has become more of a current affair during these times. Furthermore, no matter where we go or what the backdrop or scenery may be like, we still end up being the only one occupying a space or looking back in the mirror. We seem isolated or wandering as a people and as a country.

This track starts out very upbeat and high energy, which is exactly the type of tracks i fall in love with. The chord progressions keep me engaged the entire track. Its a tiny bit clunky at times but those seem to be few and far in between but my favorite part of the track is the groovy bridge.

Dolla Bill has been writing and performing rock/hip hop music for about seven years in North Carolina. He got the nick name or a.k.a. “Dolla Bill” from a co-worker friend that turned him on to freestyling and filling in as an MC. These sessions were spontaneous and quick rapoffs that showcased rhyme, flow and some good compliment. Some of Dolla’s musical influences are but not limited to Kendrick Lamar, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Eminem, Biggie, Dre and Dime P. What makes Dolla’s music unique and interesting, is his deep voice, lyrical composition and song structure.
