‘Soldier On’, is about standing in the face of evil, while its whispering in your ear trying to control you, guide you. ‘Soldier On’ is about pushing through, never giving up holding on to your soul as you fight against all that is wrong in the world. Overall facing the demon influences all around you. Just like our Soldiers have to do in war.
The theme and tone of this track are made clear immediately with the gunfire intro and then blending into the hard rock / metal instrumentals. I was surprised at first by the synth but it turned into a pleasant surprise as it fit well with the riffs. I think the vocals are on point for the vibe the track has. It is definitely an anthem. I think the synth / electronic solo / bridge is very nice and unique.
