Prepare yourself for a dive into the depths of melodic death metal, where power and emotion meet to create an unforgettable sound experience. “On the Edge of White Madness”, PatKnoT‘s new creation, is not just a simple song: it is a true tale, dark, an immersion in the “Lovecraftian” darkness sublimated by a mix of clear and melodious vocals, mixed with a deep growl and catchy riffs.
Inspired by the short story “At the Mountains of Madness” by H.-P. Lovecraft, this work fuses brutality, horror and emotion, embodying the very essence of melodic death metal. This piece is a sound film and an invitation to feel the dark fantasy universe.
The intro is a dark, dissonant entry to the track. It certainly sets the mood with the acoustics and edgy vocals. The wind sounding transition was very nice and opened up the track briefly for the harder instrumentals to come in. The parts that hit me the most during the verses are the drums, especially the double kick, i can feel it in my chest as if it were live right in front of me. At points I get Avenged Sevenfold feelings, most notably around the 2:30 mark. Going back to the acoustic darkness with the spoken recording is just haunting. Then, leading to the bridge, everything comes together very nicely, especially with the growling and metal undertones vocally.
